What is Shiatsu?

Literally translated as 'finger pressure' Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese healing therapy. Shiatsu is a truly holistic therapy which works to rebalance the whole person by stimulating the flow of Ki or energy in the meridian system.

Shiatsu...

  • restores and balances
  • eases tension and stiffness
  • relaxes mind and body
  • improves breathing
  • improves posture
  • improves circulation
  • enhances well being
  • feels great to receive!

Sharing a similar theoretical background to acupuncture it is sometimes described as 'acupuncture without needles'. Shiatsu combines pressure, stretch and mobilisation of joints to restore health and vitality. Every treatment is different and tailored to the needs of the individual which will be assessed by both questioning and touch diagnosis. Shiatsu therapists train for many years and develop a highly skilled sense of touch which is able to detect what the recipient really needs for healing to take place. Receiving shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience and it is beneficial for all. It can also be used to help improve many specific health conditions.
